Choice and Lasting Change

"Sometimes it's the smallest decisions that can change your life forever." - Keri Russell

Lasting change requires not only relying on faith, but it also requires we make good choices.  We can set goals, communicate them, write them down and pray about them, but that's just the foundation.  We've been given free will and with that comes our responsibility to do the right thing when we have choices to make.  Galatians 6:7 says, "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. "  Simply put, we are going to get out of any endeavor what we choose to put into it.

This is also true when it comes to our health.  We can't unexpectedly get healthy.  We have to make a very long series of good choices, day after day to achieve our health goals.  In "The Daniel Plan", Warren et. al. put it this way:  "You don't get healthy by accident.  It's intentional.  It's a choice."

Prayer and Hope in Jesus is an absolute must as the foundation for lasting change, but our part of the equation is making those, sometimes difficult, choices.  Are you ready to choose a healthier lifestyle?  Why don't you join us and thousands of others for the Advocare "All In" 24 Day challenge?

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." - 1 Cor 10:31

Relying on Faith to Accomplish Lasting Change

"The heart of man plans his way,  but the Lord establishes his steps." - Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)

The New Year is underway and in full swing.  As the next chapter of our lives begins to unfold and we commit ourselves to lifestyle changes to better our health and financial situation, we are reminded that building lasting change requires building our lives on Truth.  Today we want to take a look at some ideas inspired by Rick Warren, from "The Daniel Plan".

Coincidentally, today Warren posted on Pastors.com the first of a two part entry titled, "9 Actions You Must Take to Reach Your Biggest Goals", where he lists asking God for help as a key component for success.   Do we need willpower and strong resolve to achieve lofty goals? Sure.  But we can't rely on our own strength and optimism alone.  We need to be willing to ask for God's help and yield to His will while putting our Hope in Jesus.   As Pastor Doug Hankins put it, "Optimism is a great tool, but optimism makes a terrible God."

Whether you are gearing up to lock arms with us and thousands of others on our journey with the Advocare All In 24 Day Challenge or slaying other dragons in 2015, why not make the foundation of your journey faith?  Take this opportunity to share your plans, hopes, fears, and desires with God and take advantage of the greatest coach and guide we all have access to.

A New Year, A New You

Happy New Year!

As we start the new year, many of us will inevitably begin striving toward our New Year's Resolutions. If you are like us, our health and finances are at the top of our list for positive change in 2015. To that end, we are joining the Advocare All In 24 Day Challenge that begins January 7th.

Do you want to join us and thousands of others as we embark on this monumental journey?  Are you ready to start your journey to a healthier life? Is it time to make some changes? Go ahead, make the commitment to yourself and God.

As it says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."   Is this your time?  Is this your season for real change?  If the answer is yes to either of these questions, join us for a mixer on Monday January 5th at 7:00 pm to get started!  Contact us for more details.

In an effort to support our community that is accepting this challenge along with us, we will be posting some simple words of encouragement and examining some of Rick Warren's ideas from "The Daniel Plan".

In "The Daniel Plan", Warren points to Five Elements for Lasting Change:
  1. Lasting change requires building your life on the truth
  2. Lasting change requires making wise choices
  3. Lasting change requires new ways of thinking
  4. Lasting change requires God's spirit in your life.
  5. Lasting change requires honest community.

Over the coming days leading to the launch of the All In 24 Day Challenge, we will examine each of these and offer our own commentary on the applicability to this challenge and any lasting life change we aim to accomplish in 2015.

Join us tomorrow as we take a look at building your life on truth and how we can apply it to life's challenges.  We look forward to locking arms with as many of you as possible over the coming weeks.
